Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aether free?
Yes. Your timeline, search, profiles, notifications, bookmarks, posting, replying, liking and reposting are all free. An optional Aether Pro purchase unlocks the customisation extras and supports development, but you never have to pay to use the app.
Is my X account safe when I sign in?
You sign in on X's own login page inside the app. Aether has no servers of its own, so your credentials and activity never pass through us. Everything the app stores stays on your device.
Why Aether instead of the official app?
A faster, cleaner interface, no tracking, and deep customisation. It's built by someone who reads their timeline every day, in the spirit of the third-party clients many people still miss.
Can I send DMs or follow people?
Not yet. Aether currently covers reading your timeline, search, profiles and notifications, plus posting, replying, liking, reposting and bookmarking. More is on the way.
What devices does Aether run on?
Aether runs on iPhone and iPad, and on Android phones and tablets.
